Ι. Teaching contents:
This is a reading lesson. It talks about Tibetan antelopes.
Ⅱ.Teaching objectives:
(1)Knowledge objectives:
a)Students will learn some words and phrases like Tibetan antelopes, make out.
b)Students can understand the passage and learn more about the wildlife protection.
(2)Ability objective:
Students will be able to use different reading strategies like skimming and scanning correctly in their reading process.
(3)Emotional objectives:
a)Students can foster the interest and desire of learning English and be fond of taking part in kinds of class activities.
b)Students will have awareness of protecting wildlife.
Ⅲ. Key and difficult points:
Key point: Understand the significance of animal protection.
Difficult point: Help students to use reading strategies correctly in their reading.
Ⅳ. Major steps and time allocation
Step1. Lead-in (4minutes)
At the beginning of the class, the teacher will ask students: Do you like animals? What kind of animals do you like best? ,then invite some volunteers to share their answers.Then the teacher will talk different kinds of animals,some are very common, some are unusual.Finally ask students to guess some riddles.
(Justification:The riddle is interesting, which can arouse students`interest. Meanwhile, it can also lead to the topic naturally.)
Step2 Pre---reading (5 minutes)
1.Prediction
Before reading, the teacher will show a video about Tibetan antelopes and ask students to make a prediction.
2.Words and phrases explanation
The teacher will explain some new phrases like Tibetan antelopes, make out.
(Justification:Through above activities, students will be prepared to read and understand the material better.)
Step3: While---reading (20minutes)
Fast reading
(1)Skimming
Teacher will ask students to listen to the text recording. Then give students 3 minutes to read the passage for the first time to fill in the blanks.
(2)Scanning
Teacher will ask students to read the passage for the second time to match the main idea with each paragraph, then invite one student to share the answer.Of course, teacher should tell students some reading strategies ,such as paying more attention to the first sentence and the last sentence of each paragraph.

Para2 B.The guide Zhaxi and the Changtang Nature Reserve
Para3 C.Measures were taken to save species from extinction
Para4 D.We should learn to exist in harmony with nature.
Para5 E.Tibetan antelopes are in danger.
Para6 F.The reason why we observe Tibetan antelopes.
Para7 G.The good effects the measures have had.
Careful reading
Students should read the passage for the third time and do the following tasks.
1.Answer the questions.
(1)What is the reason why the author is on the plain?
(2)What danger are Tibetan antelopes in?
(3)What is the Reserve?
(4)What does the writer think about?
2.True or False.
( )a. The 1980s and 1990s were bad times for the Tibetan antelope.
( )b. The volunteers watched the antelopes in the day without night.
( )c. The antelopes were endangered animals in June 2015.
(Justification:Through above reading activities,students will not only understand the main idea and details of this reading material, but also improve their reading ability.)
Step4: Post---reading(10minutes)
Group discussion:
Students will work in group of four to discuss the following question: What should we do to save our wildlife?
Four minutes will be given.Through watching a video ,students will be given some ways to protect wildlife.
(Justification:This task can arouse students`interest.They will
be more confident to share their opinions in public.)
Step5: Summary and homework(3minutes)
1.Summary
Teacher will conclude what we have learned this class,then make a summary.--Students will know the importance of wildlife protection and how to protect wildlife. Meanwhile, they should use reading strategies in the reading.
(Justification:Review the important knowledge in this lesson can deepen students`impression and form good study habits)
2.Homework
1.Retell the passage after class.
2.Search more information about wildlife protection and share with others next class.
(Justification:Retelling can help students sort out the course content, while the task of collecting information can help students actively explore more knowledge and information)
