Step1 Introduction

1. Get students ready for learning.

2. Revision: Teacher reviews key points about the two families:

Live with; love... very much; be strict with; in the same community; prepare...for...;go jogging;live alone;hold a party.

Step2 Warming up

T: Can you tell me something different in names between China and English speaking countries?

S1:...

Step3 Pre-reading

Q: Why do people put family name and given name in different orders?

Step3 First -reading

T: Find out the answer to the question and the main idea of the two paragraph.

S1:(answer)Family names are so important to us because they tell who our ancestors are and where we are from.

S2: (Para.1): The reasons why people put family name and given name in different orders.

(Para.2): How people in and abroad name their children?

Step4:Second-reading

1.Read together. Teacher plays the recording in 1a sentence by sentence.Teacher gives 1 or 2 minutes for the students to read it.

2.Teacher designs a competition:Choose the best group who read loudly and exactly, and add the score to the group.

3. Teacher explains some key points and difficult points to the students:

In formal situation; put...before...; be important to sb; for example; as for...; name...after...; the same as...

Step5 Post -reading

1. Discussion:

Q: What brings to us when there is a culture difference.

Step5 Summary

Teacher shows summary on the screen.
