一、节约资源具极重要的意义

这里说的节约，指的是要节约各种资源，其中含有两重意义：

1、物尽其用而不浪费，尽可能为子孙后代多留些资源。我们知道，地球上所有的资源，如淡水、木材、能源(煤、石油、天燃气等各种矿物燃料)、矿藏(铁、铜、铝等各种金属)……数量均是有限的，并非用之不尽取之不竭。节约使用它们的必要性就不言而喻了。

2、节约资源有利于环保。下面分别以淡水、木材、能源为例进行说明：

1) 淡水

除却沙漠与干旱地带，地球别的地方似乎并不缺淡水，江河湖泊中都是水，还有大量地下水。农村的人们就近用水而无需花钱，即使是城市中市民用的自来水，其价格也十分低廉。故而人们历来就不重视节约用水。然而随着人口的增多，淡水的消耗自然也就随之增多，情况严重时导致水荒。首都北京就是如此，多年来已成为缺水城，人们的生活用水都感到紧缺，以至于有不少专家提出了迁都建议与设想。

而由于工业用水的剧增，以至地面水不敷使用，不得不大量地开采地下水。专家指出：“过度抽取地下水与城市不合理建设，是当前产生地面沉降最主要的原因。地面沉降会引发内涝加重、地表水环境恶化、地裂缝等危害。地面沉降的发生具有缓变性、不易察觉性特点，防治也具有一定的难度。”资料表明，全国已有70座城市的地面悄然下沉，其中有上海、天津、太原、西安等大城市。城市每沉降1毫米，损失高达千万元。以上海为例，据资料介绍，40多年来的地面沉降，造成的经济损失已达千亿元！

众所周知，木材由砍伐森林而得。现在某些偏远或落后地区仍以木材作为燃料，而制作家具、造纸等，均需耗费巨额木材，于是人们不停地砍伐森林。十年树木，树木的生长远远赶不上被砍伐的速度。地球上大片森林接连被毁，致使生态环境恶化、气候变化、水土流失等严重后果凸现。须知，作为“地球之肺”的森林，与海洋、湿地被并称为“地球三大生态系统”，保护森林的极端重要还须赘言吗？

2) 能源

迄今为止，煤、石油、天然气等矿物燃料，目前是人类消耗的主要能源，燃烧它们必然产生大量的二氧化碳、二氧化琉等有害气体。大量二氧化碳在大气层中形成的二氧化碳层，可把照射到地面上的太阳的热能锁起来，不让其流失，形成温室效应。这就导致全球气候变暖，冰川融化，海平面升高，其后果显而易见！因而引起世界各国的重视，旨在限制二氧化碳过量排放的《京都议定书》已经生效，希望通过国际合作遏止温室效应。《京都议定书》规定，到，所有发达国家二氧化碳等6种温室气体的排放量，要比1990年减少5.2%。并具体规定了各缔约国的排放缩减量。

2、存贮洗衣水、洗脸水等较净的生活用水，用于冲洗马桶;
