Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a letter to express your thanks to one of your friends who helped you most when you were in difficulty. You should write at least 120 words but no more than 180 words.

Dear Alice,

Long time no see. It’s tough but honey for me to miss you so much. You have helped me a lot in the past ten years since we last met in our primary school. I would like to express my thanks to you.

When we were just junior high school students, my foot was hurt by an accident. At that time, I even couldn’t normally walk because of the serious ache. I still remembered that everyday after school you came to my home and taught me knowledge what our teacher had taught you. You were really a kindhearted girl. Thanks for your teaching.

When we were senior high school students, I was addicted to computer games and I didn’t want to go on studying. But you told me that I shouldn’t give up studying and I should try my best to learn knowledge and then go to dream college. As a matter of fact, if there wasn’t your suggestion, I couldn’t carry on studying. Without your help, I couldn’t go to my dream college. Thank you very much.

In a word, you are not only kindhearted but also knowledgeable. In addition, as my best friend, you are really a warm and elegant girl. What’s more, thanks for your patient teaching and encouragements. Without you and your help, I couldn’t grow up so well.

Dear Lucy,

When I’m writing this letter to you, I can’t help appreciating how lucky I am to have you in my life. It has been years since we became friends, during which time you help me get through any difficulties. And i can’t express more gratitude to you now.

When it comes to what you have done for me, memories keep crashing into my mind. Having failed an important math exam in high school, i was almost consumed by great sadness. Never in my life had i felt so hopeless. However, it was exactly at that time that you came to my aid like an angel. You kept me company all the time then, comforting me with every gentle and soft words. In addition, you stayed late in the classroom with me, doing exercises with me and helping me figure out the solutions to the math problems which was difficult to me, what’s more, you accompanied me to do some shopping and watch a very funny movie with me, which made me feel better and helped me out of the great grief. From then on, i started fresh and worked harder on my math and finally made great progress in my academic performance.

I will never forget the great help you’ve offered to me, which means to me a lot and motivates me to move on with my life firmly. More importanly, it is you who make me appreciate life and enjoy so many pleasant moments with me. You are like the star in my sky, shining so brightly. And thanks for what you’ve done for me.
